Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama may (or may not) have hugged it
out, but there is no mistaking that the former secretary of state is
looking to create some distance between herself and the president she
served.

The history of the female gurgitator is a short one. From Japan,
Takako Akasaka once ate 90 ostrich egg omelets. Known as "The Sweet
Queen," in 2000 she decimated New York city pastry shops and ate a
then-record 22 Nathan's hot dogs in 12 minutes.

Today, the Earth got a little hotter, and a little more crowded.
How unusual has the weather been? No one event is "caused" by climate
change, but global warming, which is predicted to increase unusual,
extreme weather, is having a daily effect on weather, worldwide.
August 15 was the end of World War II in Asia, 69 years ago,
following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I could not
find a single reference to the bombings, or to the end of the war
itself, anywhere in the American media.

In terms of economic growth, Kerry focused on negotiations over
the sweeping, 12-nation Tans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement,
or TPP. Negotiators had hoped to conclude a TPP agreement a number of

Not surprisingly, the record of the first humans identified by a
personal name goes back to before the dawn of history itself. Through
his artistic "Love Symbol", the The Artist Formerly Known as Prince gave
us a clue how pre-writing names were probably rendered!

When you think of great BBQ pork, stripped sauce-soaked goodness,
you probably think of Clarksdale, or Walterboro, or some tiny town in
Texas. What if I told you the best I've had was in Sasebo, Japan on the

We have not yet seen any renewed attempt to re-establish the
"Quadrilateral Security Dialogue," comprising Japan, Australia, the
U.S., and India, which conducted joint military exercises in 2007 and
was seen by China as a hostile containment enterprise. But it is not
hard to imagine that this is still very much on Abe's wish list. The
dangers should not be exaggerated. But, with strategic competition
between the U.S. and China as delicately poised as it is, and with the
economic interests of Australia, Japan, and many others in the region
bound up just as intensely with China as their security interests are
with the U.S., rocking the boat carries serious risks.

In my youth, when trouble occurred, the Lone Ranger would ride
into town and punish the bad guys. Today, when facing calamity, John
Kerry rides into town and asks the bad guys to compromise.

I have been fortunate to be on six of those tours and as MLE
often opens for a band with a Pro-Am, we not only eat for the troops,
but with the troops -- each MLE eater is paired with one or two military
members and eats as a team.
U.S. women still wait -- we do
not have equal rights in
our Constitution. Oh sure, we have some statutes outlawing
discrimination, but they've already been weakened by the courts and can
be overturned outright at any time by an increasingly hostile Congress.

For me, seeing a person in an image makes it more memorable
because it tells a greater story than a landscape ever could. It also
adds cultural reference.
